    Minn Kota pin FIX

I have had nothing but trouble with a pin working its way out on my Minn Kota trolling motor, So if you have this problem also I have the fix for it. Tap the pin in flush and on the opposite side then drill a hole for a 10/32 tap, then get a cabinet handle screw, snip it off to the size/lenght you need, put lock tight (red) on the screw tighten up and you are set. the head on these screws are flat enough the the frame will clear it.

Good tip, I will use it as I'm having that exact problem. I Also understand you can order a new pin that comes with retaining clips.

the clips would have to be really shallow, other wise the bracket/frame will not clear.

Where are you talking about putting it , can you post a picture?? I have been thinking about that but was worried it would weaken the mount, I was going to put a recessed set screw.

I took a small stainless steel hose clamp /Put it on the pin on the inboard side in the bracket and it works great.

Last time mine worked its way out, I put a little red Loc-Tite on both ends and tapped it back in. It hasn't worked back out since then.
