After my trip to Falcon, I noticed a white chalking on my motor mid-section. It almost looks like a lime deposit or something. I tried Magic Eraser, but that didn't work. I'm think rubbing compound. Anyone have any ideas?
50/50 vinegar and water should do it
Try Bass Boat Saver! Great stuff= Bassboatsaver .com
yep...love my bass boat saver, but that didn't work. Will try the white vinegar/water.
Try CLR...

Ah...CLR...never thought about that one. Does anyone know what this stuff on my mota is? I am hoping that it is not caused by electrolosis. My zinc tabs are all in good shape.
I get it on every motor I have owned. It is not electrolysis. I believe it is the minerals in the water that are left when the water evaporates off due to the heat of the midsection when running. The midsection get hot due to the exhaust passing through it.
I use CLR sparingly in a dilute solution with a sponge and rinse thoroughly. CLR should not be used on plain alluminum but works well on the painted surface and leaves things looking new.
50/50 water and vinegar. It works great! Then follow it up with Bassboat Saver.
clr worked on my motor

lime-away gel works good also.
It is basically calcium or lime deposits. Most of the lakes around here have some pretty hard water. It is best to spray down with BBS immediately after coming off the water if possible. If it is really tough to get off and CLR does not work, try picking up some muriatic acid at a swimming pool supply shop or the home depot or lowes near their swimming pool supply section. This will have it looking like new.
Muriatic acid is strong stuff, so be sure to read all the precautions and follow directions including wearing rubber gloves and eye protection. Dilute one part acid with five parts water before using and make sure there is adequate ventilation.
It will work on a neglected tile bathroom too.
To remove soap scum and hard water deposits from a tile wall in a bathroom, mix one part muriatic acid with five parts water. Since muriatic acid is a harsh chemical, mix it outside. Follow the warnings on the bottle, and wear rubber gloves and eye protection. Apply the mixture with a nylon scouring pad in small circles over the tile. After rinsing the solution off with cold water, the tile will look as good as new.
I always use WD-40 on it
This product works awesome and......it is also biodegradable.

I don't get it on the outboard, just on the jackplate. I'll give the vinegar and water a shot.

Guys just a precaution if you go the acid route,
Always add acid to water and never add water to acid.
A large amount of heat is released when strong acids are mixed with water. Adding more acid releases more heat. If you add water to acid, you form an extremely concentrated solution of acid initially.
So much heat is released that the solution may boil very violently, splashing concentrated acid out of the container! If you add acid to water, the solution that forms is very dilute and the small amount of heat released is not enough to vaporize and spatter it. So Always Add Acid to water, and never the reverse.

The acid works very fast!!!! Wipe it on and then rinse it off within 3-5 seconds. DO NOT GET IT ON YOUR CHROME!!!!! It will tarnish the finish. When I am detailing boats, I only use it on real bad water stained hulls and motors.
The Lime-a-way, works good on a light coat of white film. After using the acid or Lime-a-way, always put a good coat of wax on there.
