Custom Trolling Motor for Jonboat

Posted this idea on the lounge, but no one responded. Here's the thought:
I have a footcontrolled Motor Guide trolling motor without a mount. I thought about the idea of having the transome mount off of a trolling motor that is hand operated and using it in combination with the trolling motor mount aid that slips down into the handle on the front of the jon boat, from which I can mount the trolling motor and operate it. Make sense?
My only thoughts or questions is that of the shaft size, where can I get one of those mounts, and will the footcontrol have any issues when operating.

AA, I saw your post, it sounds like it might work. I think you would get more response with a picture of some of the components. The engineer geek in me loves stuff like this.

This is what I am thinking about, but I would a transome style trollingmotor mount to attach it to the bracket. The mount would have to fit the upper shaft of a pedal style, cable steering, trolling motor. Make sense?

Might want to look at BassPro. They have a new TM from MG called the Bulldog that is foot controlled for small boats.

AA I like the bracket, you know I rigged out 2 or 3 aluminum boats in my time and never even saw that before now. And what really hacks me off is it would have been easy to build one out of a piece of aluminum plate!

Like you said, attaching to the shaft will be the hardest part. I will continue to give it some thought.
