For People Having Trouble Seeing Your Fish in the Livewell

I hear a lot of people complain about the color of their livewells (inside) and how it is hard to see/find fish in them. A lot are dark grey or even black so in low light situations it can be difficult to see your catch.

    Well, here is a fix:

Buy a thin white piece of tile or other similar material (maybe even a piece of cloth will work, flat plastic, etc). Get some good marine sealant/adhesive and seal it to the bottom of your livewell. Now you have a white bottom so you can see your fishies. A heavy enough type of material may not need to be adhered to the bottom, but if you don't, you stand the chance of it bouncing around in rough water. Leave the lids open and the livewells dry until everything sets up.

This is an extremely cheap fix and works great (sorry, no pics).

I think a bathtub matt in white with suction cup bottom works better after you cut it to size and you can take it out for cleaning.....

But you have the right idea.

I am with 21XDC on this one. My livewell is black and the bath mat with suction cups is what I use. It is easy to take out and clean too. Had a piece of white alum. siding siliconed in prior and all the junk them fish spit out collected under the edges and it stinks.

I always thought that the livewells were a dark color, to calm the fish.

Bill, I'm not sure that theory holds water because it's going to be dark inside when you shut the lid, no matter what color it is.
