Livewell Cover- No more fish trying to Escape.

I have a Tracker PT185, and posted in the Tin Boat forum about Fish trying to Jump out of the Live Well when on the water. I almost lost a 5lber in my last T and need to solve this problem.

    Well Problem Solved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I made a removable cover to keep those Green Guys in. Total cost was about $6.00.

I found two wire mesh pieces at Ace Hardware. They were meant to be used for a Paint Roller and hang on a 5 gallon bucket ($2.50 ea).

Then I cut the Hook ends off and flattened them out.

I spay painted them with Black Rust-Oleum

I drilled a few small hole in the aluminum and attached one side with TY-Wraps. To make a hinge. the other side I used Some BPS Velcro lure keepers I had laying around to make a latch. I just ran the Velcro through two looped ty wraps. This way I can open up the whole live well with any Hassle. I have everything positioned where the live well lid will close with no problem, I now have a 7-8 inch drop slot to put the fish in, and the sides are covered so the can not jump out

What you think? I'll tell you how it works this week end.

Bill, that's a brilliant idea, and I think it should be nominated for tip of the month. I'll bet most of us have "flying fish" stories to tell that your solution should cure! I'll be anxious to hear how you like it out on the water.

Tried it out on the Water today, Worked like a charm

Had 4 fish in the well and nothing even close to getting out. It was also nice to be able to remove the velcro straps and open up the hatches to get the fish out for weigh in.

    Thanks

I called my stockbroker and asked him what I should be buying.
He said, \"Canned goods and ammunition\".

A few years ago, I had the same idea and added these to my Procraft. Made from netting and sewed together withh the material on the border. Attached with Velcro.

Have a good one and thank God for it!

pink foam insulation works well inside the lid to keep the heat out just cut to fit with a knife.
