Came up with a new trick today while winter storing

I had a box of Kleenex in the boat and was just about to take it out. Then I thought, "Hey, if a mouse gets in the boat, he can chew the kleenex all he wants and most likely won't even touch the seats.

So that's my tip, throw in a roll of toilet paper or box of kleenex (full) so the mice have something else to make a nest of, instead of nice seat filling. I also spray my seats with vinyl protectant to give them a bad taste in case they want a little nibble.

If I win the tip of the month again I will auction it off in the lounge and the money will go towards the emergency fund in whoevers name wins the bid.

Just put a few drops of spearmint in each container on your boat and the mice won't go in it anyhow. It leaves a nice fresh scent to the boat too.
I don't think I want to encourage them to nest in my boat at all.

Greg let's face it, most of us can't find bread in a grocery store let alone spearmint oil.

I heard peppermint oil will do the same thing. The guy said to be sure to get the oil and not the peppermint extract. He was doing a add for his book he was selling. 1001 ways to pest free property.

BUt my tip is about IF a mouse gets in (has no sense of smell) then it would use the tissue instead of the seats.

IF he got in, then he's a smart little mouse. And if he is so smart and sophisticated as a mouse, he must come from good parents, and also have good manners. Therefore, he will eat your seat and wipe his little mouth with the tissue. Everybody knows that!

yeah i use a little peppermint oil, usually on a cotton ball, put a dozen or so around the boat for the winter. you can buy the REAL peppermint oil and health food stores. As an added tip it works really good around the house too, you can drop the cotton balls in places you can't put traps and the mice will not go anywhere near it.

Bounce fabric softner sheets work excellent. I put a sheet in every compartment and even under the counsel. Have been doing this for years and have never had a mousey problem. Not a gag me smell in the spring either.

OK, the next dumb question re dryer sheets. I did this-- this year. Does it have to be Bounce or just any dryer sheet ?

I think any brand will do, just stay away from the cheddar scent.
