    Stereo modification

Put this in the lounge but I figured it would get a little more appreciation here!

Just finished up the stereo install on my ski boat!

1 Sony marine 600 watt 4 channel amp bridged driving 4 150 watt mids.
1 Boss Chaos Extreme 400 watt bridged driving the 2 10'' Sony 800 watt subs.

Next inline is replacing the 4 so so mids with 4 Rockford Fosgate M262 full range speakers.

For those who haven't installed a system when you go buy the equipment it is relatively cheap compared to buying all of the wire and accessories.

I used sconci 5 gauge wire to a platinum coated fused distribution block, then from there 8 gauge to the amps, monster wire for subs, Kicker RCA cables from radio to the amps, gold plated terminals at all connections.

This all started out as a simple amp upgrade but everytime I went to get more wire or whatever I ended up with a little more and a lot more.

For example went in today to buy RCA cables they had some subs on sale so I bought one thinking that would be plenty. Get to the truck and my brother kept on and on so I went back in to buy another, then another amp then more wire then distribution blocks. I walked out thinking what in the HELL am I a doing!

After we got it all sewed up and cranked her up I forgot about what it costed for now! I will say this much it was enough that I could have put an HDS 8 w/insight and a LSS on my bass boat.

We will be Rockin Sunset Cove though!

Will try to get some pics after I get all the wires strapped up neatly! And Mike I will be in touch soon I have figured out the way I want my lights.

    Sounds sweet!!
Any idea what kind of battery upgrade it'd take to run a stereo in a bass boat? (Not one nearly as nice as yours, just a basic rx, 200watt amp, and 2 enclosed indoor/outdoor speakers) Thanks for any info!!

In my ski boat as of now there is only one battery although I do plan to put another for all of the accessories. We can run the stereo all day with out any issues and that includes when we just anchor down chill out for 1or 2hrs at a time. I would not be afraid to run a stereo with a 200 watt amp on my bass boat on the main battery, you very seldom sit for extended periods without running the big motor enough to keep the battery charged.
I would recommend the largest battery you can, I run 31 series for cranking and trolling. Also spend the extra cash for upper end wiring and accessories to the amp!

Actually you will be surprised I tried to keep all of the sound bouncing around inside the boat and did pretty good job at it. The bass from the subs carry pretty good and with some good music it will cause the water to vibrate and ripple around the boat.

Eric noticed you are from Suwanee I am assuming your Pheonix came from HD Marine? Lee and Ladonna are truly good people I have fished their trail since they started it up till the last two years business has kept me off the water. Never thought I would be saying that but got get it while the getting is good.
