    Keeping hooks from rusting

Up here in Maine we have whats called a fishing "season" I know......rediculous.My problem is when I store my tackle for the winter, the following spring all my hooks have rust or oxydization on them.Any way to store them properly so not to run into this problem?

I use the rust strips that came in some new tackle boxes (plano type). They seem to work awesome. Just cut a small piece for each compartment. I believe Tacklewarehouse has some like it.

I just make sure my boxes are aired out before I pack them up for the winter. I just open all my boxes up and leave them open for a day or two then snap them shut and put them in storage. I keep my gear in an unheated storage shed and never had a problem after I started doing this, prior to letting them air out I did and I found I had residual water in the bottom of my trays causing it.

I went to a local shoe store and asked if they had any of the extra gel packets that come in shoe boxes. They always have some laying around that have fallen out of boxes. They are about the size of a quarter and I put a couple in each plano box. I also keep a small bundle of wooden toothpicks in my hooks box. I've heard that the wood absorbs the moisture and keeps it off the hooks. Seems to work so far.
