COULD ANYONE GIVE ME ANY SUGGESTIONS ON THE PROCEDURE TO BLEED DOWN THE PRESSURE ON THE FUEL RAILS FOR 2004 MERCURY 225 OPTIMAX? CAN YOU JUST RELEASE THE PRESSURE BY LOOSING UP THE HOSE FITTINGS & AIR FITTINGS OR IS THIS A "NO-NO"?![]()

If you're simply trying to relieve the pressure:
*WEAR EYE PROTECTION (SAFETY GLASSES), AND AVOID ANY POTENTIAL SOURCE OF IGNITION/SPARKS*
KEY SHOULD REMAIN IN THE OFF POSITION, AND LANYARD SWITCH REMOVED PRIOR TO PROCEEDING.
Air: Locate the schrader valve (looks like a tire's valve stem) on the PORT or LEFT SIDE rail. Remove the cap, and carefully depress the valve stem to relieve AIR pressure.
Fuel: Locate the schrader valve (looks like a tire's valve stem) on the STARBOARD (right) rail (at top, facing UP). Remove the cap, and carefully depress the valve stem to relieve FUEL PRESSURE.
DO NOT disassemble portions of the fuel rails. VERY FEW replacement parts are available (most component replacements require a COMPLETE FUEL RAIL KIT).
After reassembly, turn lanyard back "on", and cycle key on and off several (3) times to re-pressurize the fuel system (air will repressurize upon attempt to crank the engine).![]()
