New Carpet, now the lids are hard as heck to open?

Is there tool that can shave or thin the carpet on the sides of the lids? I nearly pull the latches off on some of the bins!

Before you shave them try putting a strip of cardboardbetween them and closeing them over night. It may compress the fibers and glue so they open nice.

Give it a month or two and they will loosen up. Some guys have used electric trimmers to shave them down but I just lived with it on mine for awhile. Mine was 24oz.

they will loosen up over time, if you trim them you will wish you didnt.
after a couple years you will end up with gaps and very loose fit if you trim much carpet.

Spray some DRY silicone on the edges. Dry means that shortly after it comes out of the can it's dry. The only one I have used like that is made by Amsoil---worked great when I did mine.

Buy a lint shaver(for your clothes) from the fabric store....strategically use it(corners, hinge areas)...I had the same problem...now they work perfectly.

I put 28 oz bass boat carpet on mine ,my advice to others don't unless your boat came that way.LOL
My front boxes are all ok tight but about like it was before .
My rear 2 livewell and the 2 side compartments beside livewells with them all shut you need a prybar to open ,I'm triming the livewells and will go from there, the 28 oz carpet is nice and plush ,gonna be nice barefooting.
