I have a 1977 winner strike bass boat and would like to add a base and pedestal seat to the center section of the boat for my son. How can this be done and what do
i use without having to pull the floor up? From what i understand the floor is all fiberglass construction. Also i would also like to remove all the cover snaps on the side of the boat. What is the easiest way to fill the holes in?
Ideally you want to secure the base with stainless bolts and nuts...but if you cannot get under the floor, I would go with some heavy duty stainless screws through the fiberglass.
As far as filling in the holes from the snaps...IUSC fiberglass filler called Duraglas. I watched my dad fill in the holes in my boat in the hull and he made it look easy but it does set up fast so only make small batches at a time. Once it sets...you have to throw it out and make some more. He is a bodyman and has experience with this. I am not sure how long, how much hardner, etc. You might have to research this or ask the autobody shop where you purchase this product from. USC duraglas no 24035. It is blue in color when dried so you will have to paint over it somehow.
Thanks for the reply. I didnt know if screws would work or if somone made some type of srew anchor. I have used duraglas before and I think I still have some, sounds like a good idea.
