I had a merc certified mechanic at a reputable dealership give me this advice regarding my 225 Pro XS:
"When you get down to about 10 gallons left of fuel, add 1 liter of outboard oil (Quicksilver Premium Plus or equivalent) directly to your gas tank. Run as much of that last 10 gallon gas oil mix through the motor. This will help keep the injectors clean."
I don't know what to think about this. Anybody ever heard of doing this or have I just missed something on the board.
I have heard of this (though the recommended dosage was actually 150:1).
We performed extensive testing with several of our customers.... and found that although it did show "some" imrovement, the "cocktail" was a far more effective means of combating carbon levels, and keeping the spark plugs, pistons, combustion chambers, direct injectors, and exhaust "clean".
Can't discount that it shows some improvement.... but I'll always recommend what I "KNOW" to work in a wide variety of boats/engines.
