Ranger R81 New Carpet and Deck Extension

Just finished installing my new carpet and deck extension. I found a 7X30 roll of 24oz Syntec carpet on Ebay (the seller was "flooringamerica"). The color is "Platinum Cinder". I used Chapco brand outdoor carpet adhesive from Lowes for all the horizontal surfaces and 3M Spray Adhesive for the deck lids etc. I learned quite a bit from reading here on BBC!

I used 3/4" Birch Plywood and 3/4" angle and square aluminum for the deck extension. I used acrylic laquer on the plywood.

Looks awesome. What did you use for the main part of the extension? I have a buddy that want to add an extension to his Bumble Bee and we can't decide on what to use for the actual part that you stand on. Thanks.

Thanks jameson93. The UPS shipping label.....The carpet was shipped to me from Syntec Industries on Keen Drive in Dalton, GA.

It's good quality carpet. It was easy to work with, had the same backing on it the carpet that Ranger put in my boat. It's cut pile so hooks won't get stuck in it.

If you bought the same carpet I did, then I think you'll be pleased with it. I'm not sure if it's exactly the same as what Syntec produces for BassCat, I really doubt it. Given the reputation that BassCat carpet has on this forum alone, I wouldn't think that there would be an excess inventory of that stuff that they need to sell cheap on Ebay. But it's nice stuff nonetheless!

I used a 3/4" piece of birch plywood from Lowes for the deck extension. A 2ft X 4ft piece was about $16.00. My deck lids without carpet on them are 1.5" wide so I just used some 3/4" wide aluminum to make the total width of the deck extension 1.5" so that everything's level on the front deck. It's not exact, it's a little higher than the rest of the deck but I think I can get it very close by shaving down some of the carpet on the bottom of the extension. I didn't glass the extension or use marine grade or pressure treated plywood. I think the laquer will do enough to keep water out of the wood and I keep my boat in the garage. Oh yeah, I used 3M Spray Adhesive (heavy duty stuff from Lowes) on the entire deck extension, the carpet glue wouldn't stick to the painted surface.
