Hey Guys, I started my panel project this past weekend, ordered some 12" x 50" automotive Carbon Fiber Vinyl Decals. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to how I remove (and then re-install) all of the toggles & switches from the boards themselves?
I guess it depends on what kind of toggles and switches. Most toggles have a nut on the back side of the panel. You just need a small pair of pliers or open-end wrench. If the switches are rocker style, like the ones on my rig, they normally are press fit meaning they fit into the hole with a tang on the back. Simply release the tang using a screwdriver and pop off the switch.

they are just the regular toggle switches, should i take them out before hand right?, obviously lol
I would like to do the entire dash itself, but I will most likely end up just doing the panels with the toggles on em'
I did a similar project, used carbon on my dash and had Iguana make me some small decals to label the switches....
You must take the toggles out first, unless you have a lot of slack wire behind the panels. From the picture your toggles have the nut on the front of the panel. This makes it super easy to remove them. Just be careful measuring your holes for the proper drill size. There is not a lot of allowable error on the holes before both the toggle and nut would fall through. Also once you get your carbon fibert panel drilled out for toggles and gauges take a deburring tool and run it around the holes and the outside edge of the panel for a clean professional look.

That dash looks identical to my 93 274DC. Please update with pics when your are complete.
PLEASE POST PICS when you are done!!!!. My 1994 270D dash panels need to be refurbished as well. What are your plans for relabeling the switches?
There are several methods. The cheapest and easiest is to use one of those hopped-up versions of the Brother label makers. There are several fonts and many different types of label tape such as clear etc. Another is to have Darryl Brooks (Iguana Graphics) make some up. Yet another method is to have a sign/trophy shop engrave the panels. Once engraved you can simply fill-in the engraved places with white paint.

That's a great improvement I did the same with my 1986 Winner Tournament. I also really like your bling for lighting the deck, who needs LEDs. That lamp looks stellar. lol

One thing that can be done is take the panel to a graphics place and have them wrap the panels, doesnt cost much..
