You might want to try some pb blaster or wd40
You might end up having to use a pair of vise clamps. If you decide to use pliers to work the pedestal side to side to removem ake sure you place layers of duct tape over the pole and use a thick cloth to prevent damaging the finish on the metal.

If you are trying to twist the seat pole, I suggest you use a strap wrench. That way you won't mar the pole's surface.

I used a pipe wrench and just turned the seat post and pulled up at the same time. Of course that did marr the seat post so a strap wrench would be better....

Get yourself a band clamp works great.

Very common--I have the same issue on my rear post--I haven't tackled it yet
but will be soon (and replacing it with a new one) best to keep them lubed--makes it way easier to remove.

lube wont help much. the aluminum on the pedistall has oxidized.sand the inside of the pedistal the plastic part till you get a good fit i used a small wire wheel that fit the hole dia. did not take but a couple secs. to get results the wire wheel is pretty agresive .be carfull not too take to much or your seat might fit too lose. if a strap wrench dosent work try a pipe wrench with a towel wraped around the post i had to do it that way with a 2 ft cheater bar.

Re: Ranger seat pedestal STUCK.. (big_o_tom)

I agree with big o tom I had to use pb blaster and a BIG pipe wrench but it came out but saving the pole wasn't in the equation

I think the actual post is separated and spins with in itself when I put the pipe wrench on it!

I would have to cut the carpet and remove the whole pole system from the boat to get mine up without breaking the wood ......

It is a shot in the dark but do you have access in a storage box under the pedestal bases? Was thinking if you have a heat gun maybe put some heat on it and might heat it up enough to swell and remove....
