Got started on my Ranger today,,,a big winter project for sure

Started with the drivers side floor today. Will tear out the passenger side tomorrow and get the floor under the tank monday. Inspected the battery trays and all is rotted and water logged under them as well. Took off the transducer on the rear and water started coming out the screw holes. Seems all the foam in this boat is saturated with water. .....it just keeps getting better.

That sucks but it can be fixed. I just bought a 20' Charger that had set outside for 5 years and I'm lucky it doesn't look like that. (Big drought here in Oklahoma for several years). My boat come with new seats and I still have extra carpet from my previous project, so with alot glue, I'm off to the races again. Good luck!

    Art,
Try this, get some heat lamps and aim them at the transom both inside and out for about a week. You may be lucky and the transom will dry just have all the screws that are in the transom out so the steam can escape. You'll be surprised it does work. I did a customer's 482 seats and found that the quality of the seat bases that Ranger did was pitiful at best. I pulled the seat base out and had to re-fabricate all the wood with 1/2" plywood encapsulated in glass then glassed into the seat base. Then installed seats from the Boat Seat Store. For the foam use non-expanding type. You may have to pull the top cap on this guy.
