    seat skin replacement

I am considering replacing the seat skins on my Nitro 901 and was wondering how difficult of a job it was. If anyone has done this I would appreciate any pointers.

I do not have a Nitro but I looked into changing the seat skins out on my Ranger. I felt that they were too expensive for me to play around with and just hired a local shop to do the work. The end result is that I paid $350 for it and it looks great....

I noticed you are in New London, I got my work done in St. Louis by Gravois Auto Top....

    Re: seat skin replacement (STRETCH1)

I might check them out. Skins will be about 290.00 for what I need but I never done anything like that before and don't want to screw them up. Did you send your seats to them or did you have to take them in?

I live up in Knox County...about 70 miles northeast of New London. There's a guy up here who does upholstery work out of his home. My dad lives down in Jeff City but brought big bench seat from his Procraft up here to him and he re-did it. We were very pleased with the price and the results. Let me know if you're interested and I'll get this guy's contact info for you. It took him a month or so but if you wait till winter to have it done that wouldn't be a big deal.

    Dan_T,
I have just finished reskinning my 07 591 Nitros seats, I can tell you it is not difficult but it does take alot of time. You will need a pair of pliers, small knife/screwdriver to remove the 50-100 staples that hold your skin on. Remember the way it comes apart then reverse the process. The hardest part is to stretch the new skin over the padding and back board. Then all you have to do is restaple the skin in the same areas to the backboard. My skin were only $150 for all and I got two sets because of a screw up from BPS.

    Re: seat skin replacement (NEMOPanteraII)

I would like to have the upholstery guy's contact info in Knox county, thanks. I still haven't made up mind yet. If I keep it factory colors I will probably go with the skins but if I change the carpet color and the seat colors I will probably have them reupholstered.

The place is called Downing Upholstery...it isn't in Downing, it's near Baring. I think Downing is the guy's name. His phone number is (660) 892-4464. He's located on Highway 11 a couple miles west of Baring, in Knox County.

I think I might still have some before/after pictures of my dad's boat seats. Email me at njshinkl@marktwain.net if you want to see them.
