    holes in boat

    how would you guys fill the holes from an older trolling motor bracket? do i need to fiberglass them or can i use marinetex? also where do you get the gel to go over the top to match? it is just while on my top cap. thanks fellas.

    If the holes are small, 1/2 " or around there, you can use a wood dowel the same size as the hole.
    Cut a the dowel to fit into the hole, coat it with the catalyzed gelcoat and tap it into the hole so it sits about 1/4" below the top cap surface.
    Fill the 1/4" with gelcoat to match.
    For trying to match gelcoat, it's best to get a pint from the boat manufacturer.

    If not, try Minicraft, they have a lot of OEM gels.

    Or you can do the same with Marine Tex if not woried about matching the finish.
