    250 xb oil alarm

when the motor first starts the oil alarm will sound for a few minutes . turn off and start engine, it will not beep for the rest of the day. it only seems to sound after the motor is trimmed up for towing. also i can turn the key on in the garage and it will start sounding off after a minute or so. could it be draining out of the res. on the engine? thanks for any help.

Is the tank staying full, all the way to the top. If not it could be the check valve is not holding. Take a look at this if you have not seen it http://www.bbcboards.net/zerot...esent

Re: 250 xb oil alarm (CRIMSONGAMBLER)

when i check it after it sits in the garage it is about an inch from the top. i am thinking there may be a problem with the sensor , i can turn the key on and let it sit there without running and the alarm will start. guess it could be the level also. i will try to bleed it this weekend , but i should not have to do this every time should i?

IF you're having to bleed the system constantly, you EITHER have an air leak (caps, cap seals, pressure line, etc), OR you have a leaking/faulty check valve (etiher the "tee" check valve near the oil tank OR the pressure check valve in the crankcase).

    Verify no leaks FIRST.

I had the same problem and replacing parts left and right. No leak under the cowl. Turned out it was the seal on the bleed screw on the oil pump. When it was tilted it would suck oil back through the remote tank hose and suck air through the bleed screw into the onboard tank causing alarm.
