    Astro F18 Carpet replacement/Seats

I started changing the carpet in my Astro in November of last year and it has been a slow process. This is the second boat that I replaced the carpet in and I still do not know the best way of installing it. Below is a few pictures of the before and after. The rear deck of the boat is not complete but I may leave it that way. I replaced the carpet on all the doors but not on the actual rear deck. You can see some scratches and some tool marks from when I removed the old carpet and I may try to sand and compound them out.

thanks, I have the carpet but I am worried it will not come out well. I guess I will have to give it a shot. I also need to do the removable casting deck and the main floor. today I started wet sanding and compounding the top half and it is coming out awesome! I will post pics of that later.

    Re: (JeffA)

thanks for the comments, here is more pics after wet sand and compound. I still have to apply some wax or polish. On the port side of the boat it appears that the previous owner sprayed some "Clear" in two areas. It does not look like the gel coat is damaged in those areas and I am looking for ways to remove the clearcoat.

    Great job!

I always thought those Astro's were cool boats. Love the colors. And it looks new.

Thanks for the reply. I really like the colors also. I remember when I was 19 years old I had a friend who's dad had a Astro with a 135 mercury. I fell in love with that boat and I decided at that time I wanted a Astro boat. I got a good deal on this one and one day I hope to completely restore it like new.

Re: Astro F18 Carpet replacement (subfrontier)

I am having my seats recovered and one is complete and I will have the other one recovered next week.

Below is a comparison of before and after

I did not like the look of all the small pillows so the new one was covered slightly different.
