    Removing silicone

    Whats the best way to remove the old silicone from under the old rub rail after removal?

    I have had some success using an old terry cloth towel dry and a lot of elbow grease. Maybe someone else has a better idea??? I like the pic on yur sig!

    If it is true Silicone caulk it is difficult to remove other than mechanically. Not many solvents that won't harm the gelcoat/glass will touch silicone.

    Get as much off as you can by carefully cutting it and peeling what you can, then use a plastic or teflon scraper to remove as much residue as you can.
    A kitchen scrubber soaked in isopropyl alcohol or mineral spirits can be used to try andd scrub off the sticky residue.

    Acetone will also soften silicone so it can be scraped easier.
    But nothing will dissolve it so it is easy to wipe off.
