How to Remove Adhesive from Carpet Material

Got a little messy along the edges of my carpet job last night in a couple small spots. What would you use now to remove the dried adhesive from carpet material. Figured I would ask as I am sure this happens. Carpet came out good, but the edging is tough to cut perfect without shaving too deep...

What kind of glue did you use? Was it contact glue or outdoor glue?
