Personally, I would recommend doing a leakdown test on that engine to see what it's "true" condition is.
If the leakdown percentages are good- it may be fine to run for now.
It's becoming harder and harder to justify putting large amounts of money into older, EFI technology engines.... especially when you consider the fuel economy improvements on later engines.![]()

IMO, if I didn't like mess'n with these motors, I'd opt for a Opti xs motor, great power and fuel mileage...............
