Question for guys who recarpeted their Tracker

I have a '94 and I'm wondering how you carpet the area where the shifter is? I took the screws and bolts off the shifter but cant get it off to recarpet that area. Anyone know what I should do?

I had an 89, but it should be about the same. The shifter control box has 3 bolts going through a plastic spacer and the metal "wall". You should just have to unbolt the 3 and it will come off. Thats how mine was when I redid the carpet.
