How do I remove the seats on my boat??

Hi guys. I'm wanting to remove the two seats that sit on the bow and the stern of the boat. I look underneath the seat and only see a 3-4 inch spring. I know there's a metal pole that goes from the seat bracket into th boat floor...but how do I remove the pole from the boat so I can remove these seats?? I keep tripping on them when trying to fish. They only stick up a few inches from te floor of the boat anyways. Any help or tips wouldbe greatly appreciated.

There are different types of poles used for pedestal seats. Some of them just slip in the base, some are threaded and screw into the base and others have a spring lock where you push in a button to release it from the base.

What type of boat do you have?

I have a '98 Nitro 700 LX. I wish I could post pics, but not sure how to do it. I've read all the threads explaining it, but they don't seem to work for me. How do I post a pic in one of my posts with pics I have on my desktop or computer?? I don't really want to open a Photobucket account. Thanks.
