You'll need to purchase a quart..... but will likely use 27-28 ounces (depending on how compeltely you get the gearcase drained).![]()

Wellll, hell I was wrong againGuess I misread something cause
I just went back to the manuals and one said 27 and the other said 28 oz...
Usually takes more then one bottle to have it come out of the vent so I have just been putting in one bottle (32oz) You do have to be careful with the amount ya put in cause the lower unit does build up a little pressure and if there is no room in the case it will vent through the shift shaft seal and then let water in.. I have double seals on mine..
I wonder if the new gears cases has been changed or did Mercury make a change to stop the blow out of the seals. My owners manual for the 2010 300xs says only 24 oz.

I believe they changed the listed capacity to account for an "already filled, then drained, but not totally dry" scenario (which is what the end-user will usually encounter).
