    Exposed flake

Took your advice on gel coat repair, looks 100 times better. Unfortunately the finish is down to the flake in a few areas, and also has a few areas that are crazed pretty bad-what I mean is the gel has many small cracks, like old porcelain or china.

I plan on having it repaired by a pro, but until that time comes, what can I do to protect it from any further damage?? I am worried that moisture will get under the gel and cause much worse damage.

Should I just wax the hell out of it, or do I need to do some sort of spot gel coat repair to keep it sealed for now?? BTW, I live near Chicago; this is another reason I am worried about moisture underneath the gel/into the flake and glass....

How big of an area is the crazing ? Are they stress type crazing cracks ? Run your fingernail perpendicular to the crack to see if your nail catches it , or drops into the crack.
If it is light crazing where your nail does not drop into the crack , until you get it repaired just keep it sealed with a good coat of hard wax.
If you can drop your nail into them, you can lightly sand them and get a gelcoat repair kit from any marine store and seal them if you are worried about water getting inside to the glass.

Several areas, one side of bow is about 3 feet long, from rub rail up to top center of top cap. Other areas are only a foot or two long, and maybe an inch high.

Sorry, I would post pics, but I am sort of a digital retard

I would describe the crazing as severe, but very tight; cannot even get a razor edge in, just looks like sh!t!!! I have Flagship- or should I use Collonite because I need a good seal??

    Thanks dude....

Flagship will work fine, if you're worried about moisture intrusion just put a coat over the crazed areas every few weeks.
Are you planning on getting the top cap regelled ?

I just sprayed mine with Imron Ms 1 clear coat and it had exposed flake that I wet sanded down smooth. It looks like a new boat to me. You just would have had to have seen it before, it looked terrible! The cost of the clear was $240 for a gallon kit and this stuff is made for boats and supposed to last for a long time. Guess we'll see. Just another option to expensive gel coat refinishing.
