    Flotation foam

A faulty boat cover allowed alot of water to sit in my boat over the winter. Now I am rewiring my boat and noticed that the flotation foam between the aluminum ribs is waterlogged and damaged. The foam is about 1 3/4". Home Depot has 4x8 sheets of foam but it is 2" thick. Any ideas on what to use?

if the boat is open and accessable I might use the two part pour in foam in 4 or 6 lbs density.

My old alum had sheet foam in it and it was not like the foam in the fiber boats. It had large enough pores in it that it would dry. My cover got thrashed in a storm and the boat got soaked inside...I opened the engine compartments, took the drain covers off, pulled the outlet plate off the front...rented a fan dryer from Home depot...set it in the back in the engine compartment...and moved air through it for 24 hours...foam was perfectly dry after that.

Yea for Foamular. I found a local building materials company that has 1 1/2 foamular. From what I can tell, this stuff will not absorb water. It is made by owens corning. It is exactly what I have been looking for.

I spoke to the Owens Corning rep. Basically this stuff will be perfect for what I need. It is highly resistant to water. The only thing he advised is that Gasoline will degrade the foam. I will not be putting any foam in the rear compartment so that should not be a problem.
