    Stringer replacement

Can you replace 1 strnger without taking the entire system apart. Or is it all integral and all the glass and stingers have to come out and start over again. I have 2000 750 Nitro with what I was told has a broken stringer. Just trying to get an idea before someone pulls my cap off. and says that'll be 5k.

    Thanks

    Re: Stringer replacement (BattyNitro)

you do not know if the stringer is broken??

If you are going to pull the cap...there is just no sense in doing half of the job. If the cap comes off, you might as well go all out and replace all the stringers etc. It would be silly to pull the cap...replace one...and then have something else fail 4 years down the road and have to pay for the same job twice IMO.

If you do not know id the string is broken or not...find someone with one of these

I saw a guy who used one of these....he sent it in the back, the floor drain, drilled a hole and patched inside compartments...peeled back a carpet corner under the console...sent it in the nose behing the TM outlet plate....anywhere he could look and it not be noticeable. You of course cannot see everything because of the foam, but he did get a good enough of a look to have good confidence the boat was in good solid shape. just an idea.

I have no idea how you know the stringer is broken W/O visually inspecting it. That will require the cap to be pulled. If you pull it don't even think about doing half the job. We did my Skeeter several years ago and it's way too much work to patch it.

I guarantee you if you pull the cap you will find you can vaccum the stringers out due to rot, not being broken.

If you do this job yourself, make sure you set it up so that the floor is the correct height or you will not be able to put the cap back down.

    Good luck
