I posted this in the wrong area I am a newby sorry. I have a old champion 89 20 footer and It is getting dull I cant afford a new gell coat job and I have heard of spraying auto clear coat on it. Will this work and have any of you heard of or tried this. Thanks
First i would check to see if you can just wet sand and polish it back to gloss. If the clear is getting too thin to sand , then i would look into spraying it. I have heard that auto clear wil peel sooner or later and clear gelcoat is not really that expensive. Its just labor intensive. Go to the Fibreglast or Fiberglass Supply site and check the price on a gallon of high gloss clear gelcoat. If you buy the kit, it will come with catalyst. I would also buy (1) quart of duratec and mix that 50/50 with your final topcoat. Five quarts will go a long way for the topside of a bass boat. And from my experience, gelcoat is much more forgiving to spray. JMO
