    1990 Swift Restore

Ok guys after lots of emails and IM's here is the project. Alot of you never heard of a Swift Boat. I wasn't gonna post any of this until i was done, but i can't keep trying to wxplain what a Swift boat is like lol. It is like no other with the nose swoop. The boat is 21' long and is super stable and fast.

I bought this boat from a close friend, and cop in Louisiana, and although structully sound, it needed a major makeover. Here is a list of what I am gonna do.

    1. Rewire whole boat from bow to transom.
    2. Replace all livewell/bilge hose.
    3. Replace two Aerators.
    4. Add two Aerators for recirq/pumpouts.
    5. Add pro-Air system.
    6. Add hot foot slide plate to stablize hotfoot. Replace all switches and guages.
    7. Fix rubrail.
    8. reseal all thur hull connectors and motor/jackplate bolts.
    9. Replace Seats
    10. Wetsand/buff/wax to remove oxidation and bring shine back.

I will be posting updates as I go.

Here are some pictures of the boat after purchase. As you can see, it is badly oxidized. This is by far the most work I have tried to do on a boat.

    Re: 1990 Swift Restore (SwatDawg)

Ok here is some progress 8)

I hung my 2.4 200 Mariner on the back. I know its under powered but it will have to work for now.

    Installed Hotfoot Slide Plate.

    Installed proair system.

Replaced pumps and added recirq/pumpout. Coated Bilge area with 3M Rubber coating.

Replaced switches. Ordering a carbon fiber panel this week, so that will dress it up.

All wiring done, reinstalled fuel tank, batterys, and charger.

    Almost done with guages.

Swat, sweet lookin boat. Kinda reminds me of a hydro stream hull design.

I bet it will scoot fairly well even with a "little" 200.

Almost exactly like the old Hydro Streams. You can also see a Champion in that hull too, not surprising though since the old 86" Champions were made off a Hydro stream hull.

    Nice job so far.

It worked out great... I think i used 8 cans for the whole bilge... Its lighter then bedliner stuff and once its dried, its there, and waterproof. Plus the surface is not rough, its smooth....

For thos that dont know, its the stuff that coats your wheel wells and stuff... it dampens sounds, waterproof, and is easy to apply. $6 a can at walmart.

OK, I am going to also steal your idea for the belge area. I do have one question for you about the ProAir system? Is this a system that you put air stones on and will put oxygen into the livewells? If so what is the name of the system and where did you find it?

The baot is looking great compaired to when you drug it home. Keep up the good work.

about the Pro Air system, the best way to add oxygen to the water is to lower the temperature. The air system is the most efficient aerator, but it fouls easily

I'm sure it would stick, i know of people doing boat trailers and such... I would try a can, it is lighter and not as rough as bed liner.

The pro-air system adds oxygen to the livewells threw stones. I have had one on every boat i had and never lost a fish. On real hot days i do use ice also. The cheapest place I have found, is http://www.boatersworld.com/product/479290074.htm I have bought 3 from them. Fast shipping too. I know alot of people don't like them but they have done me right. i also use boating buddy. they both accept paypal and are good to deal with.

    Re: 1990 Swift Restore (restornator)

pick it up at wal mart around the spray bed liners, bondo and paint. It comes in a copper looking can. It's made for the wheels wells and undercarriage of a car. Works great as deck lid coating for the underside as well.
