    Deck extension for my 88 375 V

Well it's going to be more then a deck extension, new carpet throughout, new comfortroll, 101 Minnkota, Lowrance electronics, new seat upholstery from Ranger, batteries and shine.

I have to thank Aaron Jones AKA kobguy for the ideas and time that he spent answering questions.

The hinges, carpet and seats go in tomorrow or the day after.

Thanks Dad for your help! The old man is a retired carpenter / instructor and came out to Cali to help the old boy. I can't thank him enough.

All I need now is a new Pro XS 175 and I'll truly be stylin! Well that and some fish?

All the hatches on the deck open for storage, no special hardware except for the stainless hinges, the most expensive part of the build. All stainless Roberson screws and galvanized corner supports. Marine ply for the top, pressure treated feet, douglas fur for the supports.

Total in deck parts was around $300.00.

    Here are the befores..

    Todays pictures

Gave the old man 1/2 the day off to show him the freaks in downtown SF and to show him what I do here on the left coast. We were able to get some things done after running around town trying to find more stainless screws and hinges. Here is what we got done today. I was kidding myself when I though we were going to get more done.

I did take the week off to get this done, the big girls are starting to come up and want to have it done before the pre-spawn takes off out here

Bare frame almost ready for primer.

A closeup of the braces we used.

Primed and ready for hinges and carpet!

    Rick,
I have the same rig. Just wondering if you had any problems installing the foot control recess tray.

    Thanks,

Re: Deck extension for my 88 375 V (darrall)

    Darrel,

    Good question and Yes.

I didn't realize it but that front live well / bait tank goes almost all the way up to the front of the boat. I'll get a measurement today to let you know exactly where it ends. So after I cut the hole I found that I cut the front of the live well tank, not a big deal the thing is useless to me. I'll get some pictures today and post what it looks like down there.

I'll tell you what tho, that things is so much nicer then standing crooked all day. My 39 year old legs and hips don't hurt as much after a day on the water. It's worth every nickel.

Off to do more work done! Will post detail pictures after the day is over.

Looks great! But I wonder how that added weight will effect the performance of the boat?
    Regardless, NICE work!

    Updated

It probably added about 100 more pounds to the boat and will prob loose a few miles per hour but I'm not worried about it. The function of the boat is more important then the speed to me. Plus I'm thinking of putting on a Pro XS 175 on the back after spending so much time pimpin it out, not sure yet.

That model boat came with either seats of a short flipping deck. It's the same hull so again not to worried about performance / handling. I'll know next week after I get it on the water and I'll post the results.

Here are the pic's from today.

The tops of the doors all have routered edges so the carpet doesn't bind up when opening and closing the hatches. The first profile on the top of the door was a 1/4", the second profile was cut on the bottom with a 22 deg. bevel.

This picture is for Darrel, you can see the white part in the hole is part of the bait tank. I had to cut the front of it to get the comfortroll in. The yellow part is the foam for the bow of the boat which was dug out to make the thing fit as well.

Here it is all together ready for carpet.

We started the seat covers today but got the wrong contact cement, heading to West Marine in the morning, then bending over and getting the right stuff tomorrow.

    Re: Updated (rickd)

    Rick,
Thanks for posting the pic for me. Yeah the front livewell is pretty much worthless so it doesn't bother me to cut into it. What did you use to cut the hole with?

Also I recovered all my seats last spring and the spray adhesive works the best. Also warm up the skins with a blow drier or set them in the sun for a bit before you install them. They go on much better that way.
Your boat is going to be great when you get done with it.
Can't wait to see it after you get the carpet finished!

    Re: Updated (rickd)

    Rick,
This is what I did to my front deck. This pick was taken before the seats were recovered. I only did one rod locker lid because the wife wanted a place to lay out. Can't argue that one!!! My plan was to do a deck like your doing though. I built a new lid for the livewell to make it level with the deck. Just doing that helped a bunch. That front livewell lid was a poor design.

    Re: Updated (darrall)

    Darrall,

I just went and bought a jigsaw for $25.00, it worked just fine.

    ammot23,

My old man and I talked about the water issue in the rod lockers and we decided not to put carpet on the 2 x 4 but instead use a soft rubber piping stapled to the inside of the 2x4. We'll silicone the outside of the pipe and the top lid will make contact with that and drip down the drain (we hope!)

Well I was going to have a buddy carpet the thing but he's a bit busy so I called a guy down the street and he said we would do it for $200.00 and be done tomorrow, March 1! That means I'm fishin with pops on Sunday before I ship him home!

Here is a picture from the progress today, dad got the seat done and they look awesome.

Next is to put a price tag together, I'm thinking around $700.00 or so with everything but we'll see, I saved my receipts.

Looks good man! I'd like to see a close up of the piping that you're talking about for the water issue. You're way ahead of me.
