    Flooring replacement: Carpet vs vinyl

Now that my boat is finally running and in the water it's time to think about replacing the old carpet. My Dad keeps telling me to go with vinyl. I know I can put the carpet in myself but not too sure about the vinyl. What kind of typical installation costs would I be looking at for the viny for a 20 ft bass boat? I'm leaving the storage compartments carpet as they are not bad...just the floor and storage compartment lids. I figured I would need roughtly 30 feet but not sure. Thanks for everyones input! Here is the vinyl that I have picked out: http://www.yourautotrim.com/stormgrey.html

I think that the vinyl will be harder to do on the lids and less forgiving than carpet.
Price wise I think it will be close to the same.

Personally I would go with the carpet. There is a Crestliner dealer local to me and that type material is what they use. The vinyl may be easier to clean but I think the carpet looks better. I think carpet would be nicer to stand on in the summer if you tend to go bare foot.

I just recently redid the carpet in my 20 foot boat. I think you are making the right choice. I have also done two other boats in the last year. If you need installation tips give me a shout.

Do the topside with carpte, then the cockpit with a truck line. One that looks and feels nice.

sorry don't have a name for you.

I know that I have many times that the fish pile up down there, bleed and excrete other stuff as well, gets pretty smelly in the carpet. I'm gonna change it out one of these days and will not re carpet. Just need to be able to quick wash it down.
