I'm planning on replacing the carpet in my boat this fall. It's an 18.5' skeeter. I'm looking to buy a good grade of carpet but don't know much about it. How much carpet and glue do I need and any accessories I need? Where's a good place to buy it at? Thanks!

I think this one will work. It's 8'x20'. My boat is 18.5" so it should be enough. It comes with the kit for $175. A jug of glue and I should be set. Any other advice? I guess I'll have to find something to remove the old adhesive. http://www.bassboatcarpets.com...OLORS
Good Choice. Just pull off and scrape to remove the old carpet. Most of it should come off surprisingly well. It needs to be smooth so any glue lumps or broken off backing don't show up through the new carpet. If you have some lumpy glue areas that won't come off well, acetone works well.
Most guys use contact cement for glue which works very well but doesn't give you any working time or second chances to place the carpet right. A few here, although I have never used it, claim outdoor carpet adhesive is good for flat surfaces and gives working time. Contact cement will be needed for lids though as the bond is needed around the bends and folds.
Post some before and after pics if you get the chance.
Also remember, when cutting and placing carpet, make sure all pieces will have the grain running the same direction. Otherwise, you will have areas that look like a different shade.
And don't be disappointed if you run out of carpet if only purchasing a little extra.
I did build a deck extension and carpeted inside of the compartments and all. But I ordered 35 feet for my 16 foot Tracker Pt 165 and only had a few 1 foot scraps left when done.

I would go to a local marine upholstry shop and see what they have around there. When I replaced the carpet in my Stratos I found a shop that had most of a roll to do my whole boat. They have to buy this stuff in certain quantities and when a job only needs 4 feet they have 20 feet left over. It was under their cutting table and had an inch of dust on top of it. It just happened to be close to the color I was looking for. I spent $75 on carpet and used 3M spray on contact cement to stick the carpet to the boat.
I did my front deck in 4 hrs
