theres a button on the bottom of the post you push in and its supposed to pull right out, BUUUUUTTTTTT!!!!!!
they could be rusted in, my partner has a "98 ChampioN and his pedistals are stuck in so bad there now perminant!
if theres no button at the bottom of the post there threaded and just unscrew!

My button was useless. Wasn't even working properly. I just used a pipe wrench. Twist and pull. Do not spray liquid lube in there first, that only creates some suction. Use a towel around the pole and wrench to prevent scratches.
I'm glad I am not the only one who has this problem. My 99 Champion pedastals stick !! I have used both the pipe wrench and the a large set of channel locks
