    Harbour Freight Polisher Speeds

Well, the boat is coming out of storage next week and its time to get her cleaned up. We went over to the US a couple of weeks ago and I picked up a polisher from Harbour Freight (the one that people are talking about on the forum 29.99). Here is my question:

What speed on the dial to use for each application:

    Compounding (Meguiars 49)

    Polishing

    Waxing

    Thanks.
    Chris

I used a 3M rubbing compound with wax and it said to use the high speed setting at first than as the luster starts to show through you then use the slower settings. I used this method and my top cap turned out great!
    Hope this helps.

I'm about to start the process again. Goin to harbor freight tomorrow to get a polisher. My only question is this...Last spring I did a half-a$$ job with the 3M compound by hand. So should I use the compound again with the polisher or just use the Finesse-It and then some wax??

If you are not happy with the way it turned out I would use the compound again and finish with a polish of your choice. I like the 3M stuff.

I just did my boat with the cheapo $29.99 polisher. Worked great. I wouldn't go over 3 for the compound. Buy a good sheepskin bonnet for it (I think it's sheepswool for rubbing and lambswool for polishing compound???). If you finish with finesseit or another swirl remover you may go to 4 for the "final" finishing.
I think we're gonna need a bigger boat...
