    Re: new clear gel-coat (vanzile90)

Too many varibles to estimate-Are you sure it needs reclear? can it be polished out?Can just areas affected be recleared(top of gunnels or complete interior inc. consoles). It's best to have trusted eyes evaluate your boat and help decide how much to spend.Aprox:polish 400-800/ partial 1000-1500/complete without carpet 2500-3500(prices will vary depending on exp/quality). Good luck!

Re: new clear gel-coat (AMS BOATS)

ive wetsanded and buffed 1000 grit and 1200 and did 3 stage buffing and after a couple of months it starts getting oxidition back i would just need too re-clear gel-coat from the carpet to rub rail. The inside still looks good its a 90 stratos 275 bass boat

    Vanzile,

Here is a link to another thread here on BBC. Read my third and forth responces and you will understand why you generally cannot simply put new clear gelcote on the old clear gelcote.

A quick and easy check of the work you perform is to wipe the area you sand /polish with acetone-If it returns a haze or dull, you have not removed enough oxidation.Carefull not to silver the flake,I have taken 400 grit to a finish to bring it back without problem(don't start here).Compounds and sealers have solvents built in to give the" wet look".As soon as they dry, the finish returns to dull. The bottom line is, if you only want the "wet look",try WD40!,you will get the same results.Good luck!
