Lids are done, ? about the floor.

When using the carpet glue, is it thick enough to hold the carpet in place while it's waiting to dry?

when i did my carpet, i covered the area and the carpet backing with the glue, waited about 5 min and then placed together. after that the carpet was pretty much stuck, but could be pulled off quickly if misaligned. after about 15 min later it was perm. fixed, you would tear the backing before the glue come loose

    hope this helps

I assume you are using carpet glue on the floor and not contact cement. As long as you don't have any sharp bends in the carpet (you shouldn't for the main floor), putting down the carpet glue and laying the carpet should be all you need to worry about. Just put down the glue, position the carpet, work it down good and final trim it.

You could use contact cement if you wanted, but if you don't lay it down perfectly the first time, you could end up with a mess trying to reposition it. I used contact cement on the lids (due to the lips) and carpet glue for the main floor and decks. This was 3 years ago and I have had no issues.
