Here are the pictures of the console I built for my 2003 185 Javelin Series:
This was made from sanded cedar, sealed with resin, and the inside painted white. The outside, and under the lid is carpeted, as well as the bottom of the storage area.
I also have the diamond cut rubber matting underneath for anti-slip if I take it out. I made an aluminum bracket that matches the stock one on the center seat, so I just pull the 3 screws out of the seat, and screw this in. Fast and easy. If you use the original screws, you don't have to worry about running one into the gas tank.
It provides a better step hight than just removing the seat, and can also be used as a seat while in.
