I just redone the entire outside of my 2001 blazer 210. Lots of work, but you should see her shine. . Started with wet sanding the entire boat with 400........... then wet sanded with 1,000................ then high speed buffed with 3M rubbing compound for fiberglass............. the high speed polished with 3M polish and swirl remover. Topped it off with a fresh wipe down of Bass boat saver and whammo.......

I can post the product part numbers if you like. THis is the third bass boat I have done with these same bottles, still some left, initial investment for 3M products less then $60.00

I totally agree with Ray. The 3M products are great. Start with Medium Rubbing Compound, then Fineese II, then a good wax. Unless it's really bad, you shouldn't need to wet sand. You will need a good buffer, not one of those orbital polishers that you buy at the auto parts store, but a variable speed polisher/buffer. I found one a Harbor Freight for $30 on sale. Get a couple extra wool bonnets and have at it. There are good instructions on the 3M products as to how to use them. A 16 oz. bottle of each is enough to do most bass boats. All three products will cost you about $50.

I DON'T THINK IT NEEDS WET SANDING. THE BLACK JUST HAS SOME FADE TO IT. THE CLEAR IS STILL THICK AND SMOOTH. I JUST GET WORRIED ABOUT USING RUBBING COMPOUNDS OR OTHER ROUGH WAXES BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER DONE IT. SURE WOULD HATE TO REALLY MESS MY BOAT UP. THANKS

I went off of what worked for my boat, I had no choice but to wet sand, it has scratches from brush that would have never buffed out otherwise. The gel coat finish is very tough. I also wet sanded my hood and motor, you shoudl see them.
