    ranger 492vs merc 225efi setup

The boat and motor are 96s and I have no jackplate. 24in turbo three blade. Propshaft is 3.75 below pad. Two men and a heavy tourney load it ran 64 yesterday at 5500rpm. I'm thinking I can move the motor up one hole to be at 3inches and get that extra few rpm's. I don't think the speed is bad now considering we had two men and 30 rods and gear for two plus full fuel and livewells but i'd like to be able to run to 5800-6000 don't ya think?

With the livewells and the gas tanks full I'd say you're doing real good.
Unless you have an engine hoist and a lifting ring, I'd leave it alone. 3 1/2" to 3 1/4" below pad seams to be the sweet spot on Rangers, you'll need a plate to get there.
