I'm Going up there next Friday, But I don't think I'm Fishing up there Saturday.

I dont no much about that lake either. I have fished it twice but we caught them well both times with a couple nice ones, one at 5lb. My partner and I are going up there on the 4th, stay in a local hotel and cruise the lake some and try and find something. We will be in a black ford f150 towing a stratos 201 pro, so if you see us give me a holler.

Hey Merc I run up that way deliverin frt 5 days a week. After all this rain Elk was runnin muddy as can be today. I'm bettin by Saturday the upper lake will be that way. Lower lake probably won't be as bad. I'd try and find some stained water if possible 3/8 oz spinnerbaits in white with chart. swimmin style trailer gold and nickel blade and a chart/white spinnerbait with chart. trailer and same blade combo. Gonna need some vibration so either Colorado blades or big twin willowleafs. Tht's if water temps are high 40's to 50's if it's low forties black/blue jig black frog trailer. Close to the wood there's still a few stumps up there. I can tell you this much the muddier water at the head of the lake will be the coldest just watch your temp gauge and see. That's why I say look for stained water. Also don't count out a blue/chart. or crawdad pattern with orange belly crank in the stained water especially if it's in the 50's. Don't know if this will help but that's how I would start. If it seems to be a slow bite you could always go to a green pumpkin/chart. senko or green pumpkin tube I'v caught a few on those before.

hey fool, I realy appreciate that !!!! i am concerned with the water temp, i'm gonna assume that it won't be above 50, and plan to be in some stained water.. like i said this is a step up from fishing club tourneys, so our laid back " we'll get'em next time strategy won't work, this one is for some grn-backs ya know !!!
thats good places from fool to try.i know i am going to prefish up there next week in the same areas.seems like the tournament is always won from the river.good luck and be careful up there with the water down.
