    Trim Problem

Trim went out this weekend and here is what happened- Fished saturday and had zero problems, put boat on the trailer trim worked fine. Went to the ramp the next day and trim was out, in all locations of the boat. I do not believe it is a battery issue as everything else works fine. I can hear the relay click when the switch is engaged- 2009 250 ProXS. Anybody had this problem or got any ideas.

Take a piece of wood and smack the side of the trim motor. If it starts working you need a new trim motor. Had the same thing happen to my 05.

"Beating" a trim motor should be held as your "last resort".

There is a simple test to confirm whether or not the trim motor is functional:

Locate the wiring harness for the trim motor where it comes up into the cowling. There are two bullet connectors- disconnect them.

Take the male side of the bullet connectors... touch one to battery POSITIVE power, and the other to battery NEGATIVE (ground). Trim motor should operate trim in one direction. Reverse the connections- trim should function IN THE OTHER DIRECTION.

If your results match the above- likely a relay or electrical connection problem.

If your results DO NOT match the above- likely a failed trim motor. It is only in this case that "tapping" on the trim motor would be considered acceptable (it will still need to be replaced, however).
