Claytor Lake 1/27/07

Not a bad day, Fished Claytor Lake for the first time. Not knowing much about the lake, Looked for warm water in the creek, found water 42deg. I caught 1 smallmouth (biggest smallie I've ever caught) Carolina Rig 20ft ledge above drop off, and my buddy caught a pretty nice spotted bass, of same point (tube).

Considering the wind, water temp, and the fact we had never been there before, Not a bad day.

Good deal Ed. So where is Claytor Lake, what part of the state?

South of Roanoke right off of 81. near Dublin Va.

Sounds like a pretty good day, how big were the fish?

My Smallmouth was 17" the Spotted was about 13-14 inches.

All of them on C-rig I take it then.....Slow fishing.....
