    Jeremy:

How many hours do you have on your engine? Over 100?

There are several things that can cause a no-charge condition. Some of them could be "defective components".... others (and more commonly) are Operator or Technician ERRORS. Among these would be:

-Poor or improper connections at the battery, or any battery switch

-REVERSE POLARITY CONNECTIONS (even for a split second), which blows the fusable link (it was installed to protect the very expensive electrical components on your engine)

-A red bullet connector jumper link (located below the starter itself, and near the oil pump) can be inadvertantly disconnected while servicing something inside the right lower cowling (such as a trim sender or a "power trim motor"). Of course I'm not there to diagnose your engine "hands-on".... but I strongly suspect one of these is your problem (it's probably something outside of Mercury's immediate control).

No... it's not. Much more common is the fuse link, or the "inadvertantly disconnected" red power link.
