Finally got on the water on Sunday at Greenfield state park. Wanted to go somewhere big enough for some good fish, but small enough just to troll, as the motor still needs to be checked over before we fire it up (at the marina as I write this).
Went with my Dad, and my uncle met up with us in his boat. On the water around 6:30, water temp about 58-59. I pulled in 12, all small largies, but keeper size. 7 or 8 came on a 3/8 oz. black/blue jig, and the others came on a Rapala DT-4 Perch crank bait. Found them TIGHT to shore, and some suspending tight to some milfoil patches. Not a bad day to start the season, but I was hoping for some quality fish.
My dad caught either 3 or 4, we couldn't remember, and my uncle only managed 2. This was kind of a rarity for me, as I beat my dad about half of the time we go out, and I almost never beat my uncle, and I managed to double their total catch combined. Not too shabby! Heading out to Pleasant in Francestown on Wednesday, hoping to get into some bigger fish.
