Hey guys, I'm going to look at an 07 Procraft 210 superpro equipped with an '07 250 ProXS in the next couple of days. This boat is owned by an elderly man who keeps it at his lake house in a garage and only uses the boat about 5 months out of the year, so I am assuming it has pretty low hours on it (prob. 100 or so). He can't remember if the engine has any warranty remaining, because he owns 2 other bass boats besides this one and they are all running the same engines.
I'm new to the Mercury scene, so here are my questions.
1.) I know about some prior coil issues and such, but what should I keep an eye out for on the test run down the lake, besides the obvious missing at idle, weird sounds etc.
2.) I'm assuming that if I get the serial number from the engine, I can contact a dealer and they can tell me if there is any warranty remaining. Will they also tell me about any prior service history since I'm not the current owner?
3.) What overall questions should I ask the owner? I know about the regular scheduled maintenance questions and what brand of oil he uses, but what about quickleen? I live in Kentucky and we don't have the problems with ethanol like some other states. Is it imperative that fuel stablilizer is used? Should I be worried if he hasn't used it since new?
Thank You in advance, I have learned a great deal about these motors by browsing the forum already. Jeremy
