    Speed Restrictions.....

    Lake speed limits sought
Meredith - Seeking to use the strategy that gained a speed limit for boats on Squam Lake, residents of the eight towns surrounding Lake Winnipesaukee have submitted a citizen's petition calling for speed limits of 45 mph during the day and 25 mph at night.

Got that headline from the Union Leader 9-20-06.

I saw that on tonight's news, I guess I'll just have to sell my house and move to Florida and New York But, they also did say it would be pretty hard to enforce

Yup, they lost last year so they are going to try another run at it with a different plan of attack. You can't dictate safety, it has to be learned! Educate the boater.

Welcome Bugs I'll be moving up in April - May. I noticed the Hillsboro Bass emblem. Is that county or city of Hillsboro ?

    Jazz,
It stands for Hillsboro County Bass Club, HBC for short. Were based out of Goffstown. Small club, max 15 boats. Hard water will be coming soon. Enjoy the winter.

    Re: Speed Restrictions..... (Bugs)

We fished New Found yesterday (rained all day), it was pretty tough. Its unbelievable how clear New Found is and therefore makes it hard to fish. Crankbaits, Senko's and Creature baits took several near 4 lb'ers. and one almost 5 lbs. I think the fishing was slow due to the cold front that came through. New Found has a great boat ramp, very good parking and facilities.

We have Merrymeeting in two weeks and Opeechee Bay (I hope they don't draw the water down like they did on us last year) two weeks after that, I hope the weather stays good. I'll probably head up to Champlain the week of the 9th. Its a good time to catch some big fish.

    Re: Speed Restrictions..... (NH Phil)

Phil, last year we didn't get to fish it. Our last T of the year was there and when we got to the ramp there was no water. We were told they were working on the damn. We're hoping they don't draw it down before the 21st, but don't know. Its too bad the state can inform the club that has a permit on a lake if they are going to draw in down. A few years ago they did the same to us on the Pemi river, you could walk across it and we had a permit for a tournament. Please let me no if you get there on the 8th and they have drawn it down. We've always been told there are some monster smallies in Opeechee Bay.
