Startin to look like things were slowing down a bit in here so I thought I'd post. Made my way over to manawa last friday on my way home from nebraska city to get my boat back from the shop, thought I'd run it a little to check out the tune up. (BTW, if you want great work done by someone who gives a sh*t about your boat and works for cheaper than anyone in the area, give Reggie a call at Midwest Sport Power).
Anyway, got to the lake and ran it around, then decided since I was there I'd head back to the canals and fish a little. I was about to leave until I made a pitch way back under a dock where it connected to a rock bank and a fish boiled on my jig. Ended up following that pattern to catch 4 fish in the 3 pound range, all females. That was way more than I expected from Manawa!
Then headed over to Wehrspann for the afternoon and evening. Ended up catching 8 fish all over 16" on a trap, and even a bonus FAT 23" walleye that was awwwwfully tasty! They all came from a particular flat that I know Mr. Puma Jim is very familiar with.
Saturday was my bass club's (UNO Maverick bass club) fundraiser tournament at summit. The weather was exceptional, but unfortunately the bite wasn't. There was only one fish over 3 pounds weighed out of ten teams. We ended up catching 4 of the 15-15 1/2" variety and taking 2nd. 1st place smoked everyone with 14.5lbs and a big bass of 5.2. Seemed like there were a few males locked on beds, but I was confident that all the fish I caught were males, and they were all on a rockpile in about 8 fow...? I think the rapid warming trend has the females thinking much more about spawning all of the sudden. Either way, great weather, great tournament. Thanks for those that came out to support our new club!![]()
