    Cape Fair was pretty good!!!!

Andy and I went to Cape Fair tonight in his old Stratos. We fished from 6:30pm to
10:15pm and caught 14 fish. 6 of those were keepers. Caught them on crankbaits
and grubs in 2-6 feet of water.

For a short trip I thought we put it together pretty well. It was a blast for sure!!

the water must have come up a little since friday night, I don't see a treetop in the first picture to the left of the fish.

There's always some shallow fish up river!! Throw a little crankbait right up into the
    green stuff. Hang on!!

Those tree tops haven't been exposed for awhile. That's a nice little cut.

The crank bait bite should keep getting better and better. Keep one tied on. Don't miss
out. As the water starts to cool, the bite can change pretty fast.

Well I'm gonna go try it tomorrow evening I think. You have really managed to stir the pot so to speak.

Small crankbaits thrown parallel to, or about a 25* angle to, the bank will get you
lots of bites. Most fish will be small but they will keep you entertained between the
keepers you will also catch. Experiment with the depth. Sometimes you have to
throw to the bank between the bushes to get bit. Other times they will be right on
the clear water line. Sometimes out in 6-8 feet of water. Try it... I think you'll like it.
    Good fishin'.

One other thing....be careful about cranking too fast. Especially after you catch a few.
When you get excited you have a tendency to over crank. Slow down. Vary the speed.
Try the ol' stop 'n' go!! I bet you get bit!!

Re: Cape Fair was pretty good!!!! (flubyu)

If you put your crankbait on a spinning rod, spooled with about 8lb test, you can throw
it twice as far and get it a little deeper than with a bait caster. A little Bill Norman, or a
Bandit, maybe even a Model A Bomber would be about the right size. Andy and I have worked this pattern for several years now this time of year. It works up at Stockton and
Pomme too. The further from the dam the better.
